S.L.I.C Mission:

"Student Leaders Initiating Change" is a youth coalition developing our leadership skills to encourage our peers to make decisions that have a positive impact on themselves and the community.

SLIC (Student Leaders Initiating Change) is in Ottawa County in West Michigan. Among other things, we build our leadership skills, learn to work within a coalition of students from all the local high schools (meaning- meet new people!), participate in local service projects, attend youth leadership summits, use social networking and other media to provide positive messages to our peers. SLIC is now meeting in several high schools in Ottawa County- see if we are in your school or check about getting SLIC started!

We don't just talk about making a difference; we actually DO it! Come check us out!

Apply for SLIC Core
SLIC is currently taking applications for SLIC Core. SLIC Core helps plan school based campaigns (like Red Ribbon Week, National Drug Facts Week, Safe Prom), countywide youth events (like ATI Day, social events, service projects) and other initiatives decided upon.

As a Core member you commit to attending 80% of the meetings (3rd Thursday September-May), at least 1 additional activity/service project and sign a pledge to be drug and alcohol free. Core members commit to 1 year on an annual basis.

SLIC hopes to have at least 1-3 representatives from each high school in Ottawa County on the Core Board. Currently represented (but we could take more): Black River, Careerline Tech, Holland High, West Ottawa, Zeeland. (If Core is not for you, get involved in your school based SLIC- see below!)

Apply for the SLIC Core Team here!
As a Core member you get additional activities (like Ropes Course, Holiday Party) and leadership opportunities (like youth summits, leadership conferences).
